Magically Delicious Green Smoothie

In celebration of all the little leprechauns in all the land and all the humans that plan on consuming copious amounts of fun green "adult drinks" today (St. Patrick's Day), I thought it would be a suitable occasion to whip up something wickedly nourishing and green today (but then again, we all do that everyday, right? ... RIGHT?!).

It's funny how St. Patrick's Day has changed for me over the years. It used to be one of my favourite holidays to celebrate (and it still is), but over the past few years, I've started to do some things a bit differently. Instead of my mornings starting with green beer and cheerios, it now starts with a green smoothie!

This beauty can be thrown together in your blender any time of year, though it may be especially essential on a day like today where you might skip that kale salad at lunch and head straight towards the goodies. I feel that any effort towards optimal health is a step in the right direction. Optimal vibrant health doesn't happen over night and instead, it's an evolving journey over time. Start by mixing in a green smoothie at least once a week and see how you feel. Then, continue to add on other things that make you feel good!

Magically Delicious Green Smoothie

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups spinach

  • 2 stalks of celery

  • 3 romaine leaves

  • 1 green apple

  • 1/2 avocado

  • 1/2 lemon, freshly squeezed

  • 2 tbsp hemp seeds

  • 1/2 cup water or as needed

  • 1 tbsp ginger, freshly grated

Directions:

  1. Wash all ingredients and cut into small chunks

  2. Place ingredients into high-speed blender and blend on high for 30 seconds.

  3. Pour into tall glass jar and enjoy!
